Ian Gray is a qualified secondary music teacher, Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music (Piano Teaching) and holds an MA in Popular Music Studies.

Having tought in Schools from 1982 - 2000, he went on to be a Project Manager for Lancashire Music Service. Where he promoted Popular Music in the counties schools. Ian is now a Music Education Consultant for LMS in charge of Wider Opportunities and Musical Futures. He is an examiner for ABRSM on the main and jazz panel and enjoys undertaking overseas work.

As a profesional musician, Ian plays as a soloist in a veriet of contects, he enjoys accompanying instrumentalists but particularly singers. He is in demand as a Musical Director whose credits include "Lights, Camera, Action" (with Preston Musical Comedy Society) " Magical Musicals", "Titanic" and "Oliver!" (with Blackpool Operatic Players.)
